One of the things I really try for in my artroom is to encourage the kids to think about personal meaning and concept with regard to their work. This fifth grader does a really nice job describing how she explored the idea of winter in her cardboard loom weaving. Not only is the weaving beautifully done, but she tells how she used yarn to represent ice, snow and cold winter nights.

This year in our fourth grade weaving unit I tried a little something new!
I ripped off another art-teacher-blogger and stole the idea for weaving both the front and back side of the loom to create a closed bottom tube. Weaving in-the-round! Here’s one of my favorites – love that intense spot of color along with all that peach.
Great work, fourth grade weavers!
